The Brief
Restore York is a local Christian charity based in York, their aim is to provide accommodation and support to those who would otherwise be homeless. Restore appointed Art is my Career to elevate their brand and launch an updated website that better represents the people, local community and the great work they do.
The Process
Step one of the project was to appoint a brand council. This consisted of a team of four whose role was to oversee the branding project and overall direction of the style and output. The outcome from the initial brand council meeting was for the Restore brand to be elevated, rather than rebranded. This was due to the strong foundation the Charity already had, with a clear concept around housing and Christianity.
With that clear foundation in place we got to work developing concepts to bring the inspiring nature of the work Restore do to life. Once the brand council were happy with the direction, we presented the elevated brand to Restore residents, trustees, staff and volunteers during their Creative Hub session, gathering vital feedback and steering conversations around the future of Restore.
Attendees were invited to give honest, anonymous feedback on the overall concept, and vote on their preferred logo.
The Results
The result focuses on the end goal of Restore, to provide support in the rehousing process, lifting people up and building communities. New and vibrant colours and illustration bring this goal to life.
We pride ourselves on working as a team with clients, building lasting relationships and becoming an extension of internal teams. We want to leave clients feeling they can pick up the phone at any point and ask for help or advice when using the new brand assets. Restore is the perfect example of this. With templates set up for use on Canva and an easy to follow one-page guidelines, the team are doing a fantastic job rolling out the elevated, uplifting and inspiring new brand.
We were thrilled to then be appointed to design and build the new Restore York website, offering a bespoke multipage site built on Squarespace with in-person training and tutorial videos provided, ensuring the team have all the skills to continue updating the site without the continuous expense of an external team.
Client thoughts…
"We couldn’t be more thrilled with the incredible work Laura has done for our charity. From the very beginning, she approached the project with empathy, creativity, and a deep understanding of our mission to support individuals experiencing homelessness.
The brand was not only visually stunning, but it also authentically captured our values and the heart of what we do. Laura worked closely with our team to ensure that every element—from colours and logo to tone of voice and imagery—aligned with our purpose and resonated with our supporters.
The new website is a game-changer. It’s clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate, making it much simpler for people to learn about our work, get help, and support our cause.
Beyond her technical skill and creative vision, Laura was incredibly professional, responsive, and genuinely passionate about making a difference. We are so grateful for her dedication and talent—this brand elevation and website will help us serve even more people in need. We wholeheartedly recommend Laura to any organisation looking for similar work. "
